#Notinmyname in India, the Rise of the Masses

by in World on 29th June, 2017

India recently has seen a surge in attacks on Muslims which have sadly resulted in deaths of Muslim citizens and Dalits. There was a recent move by the  Modi government in May 2017 which looked to impose a ban on the sale of cows, whilst the ban was to further financial benefit by suffocating small business or small land owners it has caused Mobs to spring up across India and they are attacking anyone suspected of buying or selling beef. The current government have also been silent and not condemned the attacks which saw a movement from the people.

What was truly inspiring is that thousands of Indians of every faith and background came together and protested over the killings as recently a 16-year-old boy was named as the latest victim of the Mob violence and accused of Buying beef for Eid celebrations.

People started with protests chanting #notinmyname after this Facebook post

Shouldn’t there be protests against the lynchings especially after the murder yesterday in Delhi NCR by a mob of a 16…
