The Ordinary have been introduced into the beauty world with an evolving collection of affordable skincare. The canadian skincare brand falls beneath the brand Deciem, known to be “The Abnormal Beauty Company” with innovative products that have been raved about and proven to work. The skin brand takes pride in creating its clinical formulations with integrity, with all products being free of parabens, sulphates and mineral oils. 

The Ordinary has gained so much recognition for mastering a cost effective way of adding powerful ingredients that work without breaking the bank and we’re talking prices starting from £4.90..We also love the fact their products are cruelty free, vegan friendly and mostly alcohol free too. The packaging makes it very instagram friendly too (it can help).

This is where we get excited and start browsing the range but this is normally the stage where many of us get confused and frankly a little overwhelmed. The brand has created over 25 products with a mix of vitamins and retinoids, direct acids, hydrators, oils and suncare too. This gives you the ability to really build a skincare routine specific to your needs. 

We’re going to give you a starter’s guide to 5 of their best selling products with ingredients every skin type will benefit from to improve clarity, brightness and to tackle those signs of ageing.

1. The Eye-Deal

The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG 30ml

Yes, a 30ml product (that’s bigger than most eye products) for £5.80. The Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG has a high concentration of caffeine mixed with Epigallocatechinn Gallantly Glucoside (EGCG) which is found in green tea leaves that helps reduce puffy eyes, lines and dark circles. It’s a fluid formula and we would recommend using this AM and PM for effective results.

2. The Hydrating Heavyweight

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 30ml

I know we’re always talking about hyaluronic acid,  but it really is a key ingredient for keeping your skin hydrated for long-lasting moisture giving you softer, brighter skin. This oil free formula is boosted with vitamin B5 and is ideal for all skin types. This is best used AM and PM before a cream.

3. Retinoid for All

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% 30ml

Retinoid is a skin saviour for problems like anti-ageing and acne but every skin type can benefit from it as it achieves younger, brighter looking skin. It combines two forms of next-generation retinoid in a formula that minimises irritation. This is recommended to be used at night. Sun protection is even more important when using this during the day.

4. The totally organic Rose-Hip Seed Oil

The Ordinary Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 30ml

We think an oil is great for every skin type, even those who like to keep it oil free. The truth is, not all oils actually clog your pores and this totally organic rose hip seed oil is actually good for scarring and anti-ageing. This could be your favourite oil to mix into your makeup routine if you are after the dewy look but otherwise we recommend using this in the evening a few times a week. It may be worth alternating the retinoid and oil during your evening routine.

The Ordinary Buffet 30ml

It’s called The Buffet with good reason as it’s a multi-peptide serum which is a feast for the skin. This could be the ultimate formula for anti-ageing with its blend of hyaluronic acid and Matrixyl 3000. This is one of the higher priced products from the range at £13 but is a mix of some powerful ingredients. This is recommended to be used after cleansing at AM and PM.
