Plant Based Masks and Toners for the Skin From £2.99

by in Beauty & Makeup on 23rd October, 2017

Skincare is vital, whether you wear makeup or not the environment we live in and other factors can have an effect on our skin,I think we all know that. The skincare industry is colossal, with thousands of new products making their way to the front line of social media promotional posts. More often than not, high-end products come with high-end prices such as Kiehl’s 30ml ‘recovery oil’ costing £38 (I still love Kiehl’s though!).

While these products are ready-made for beauty enthusiasts, there are several toners and face masks that can be made with cheap, natural ingredients like bentonite clay.

As an avid fan of most things natural, I embarked on a short journey to research the best plant-based products for my skin. My skin tends to be dry in the colder months so I ended up purchasing a few earthy herby goodies which have proved themselves to be incredible delights. I personally do not use face scrubs on a daily basis because I feel as though that would prevent my skin from regenerating and revitalising itself as efficiently as it does now. Though I only use water to wash my face, I then go on to pour a few drops of a natural toner into my hands and then proceed to apply it all over my face, for even coverage. After this step, I use my trusty Nivea moisturiser.

Rose Water

This liquid made an appearance on my Instagram feed and I had seen it dotted around some raw vegan beauty pages, so I made a note of it. Rose water is an (edible) toner that is created through distilled rose petals. I know, it sounds complex, but this two-ingredient natural toner has many beneficial qualities. I happened to come across it in Westfield’s Beauty Base for £2.99, and I purchased it on the spot, whilst I couldn’t find an online version, here are a few others!

Using this product as a toner has proved to live up to its reputation. The benefits include:

– Anti-inflammatory
– A great source of anti-oxidants
– Helps to strengthen skin cells
– Regenerates tissue
– Smooths skin

Thayer’s Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel is a plant that is native to North America and possesses numerous natural benefits that really can make your skin blossom. The plant is a species in the Hamamelid and has been used for centuries and is still very popular today. This product made a very dazzling appearance on my Instagram feed. I’ll admit, I was surprised to say the least when I searched the product on Amazon and saw the price tag. I almost did a double take as I weighed the pros and cons of purchasing this highly praised toner, and as you can guess, I ended up buying it. I am now going into my third week of using this product and I think it’s fair to say that I am loving it. Initially, my face broke out, however it cleared up within the following days. The particular bottle I bought includes aloe vera and rose petal water and guess what else? It’s alcohol-free!
