
As journalists, we find ourselves in a perpetual state of questioning, questioning others around us, but more so ourselves.
Questioning what compels us to ask that?
Why did I feel that way particularly about that answer?
Why did this make me react?
Or make me feel angry?
Internal biases affect our personal and professional lives, and ultimately wider society, we have seen the result of biases reflected in the office, boardroom, and during the hiring process, advertising, and day to day interactions. Even within our own relationships, romantic or otherwise. The beauty of this world is that there are a plethora of perspectives and experiences amongst people. However, it is difficult to adopt as many as there are for every individual, we are all prone to having biases. Having a way to check if we do, is a start. It can help create more harmonious interactions and space for more understanding and growth between us within our society.
