A new innovative beauty brand is here, and since Ramadan is upon us, what better way to show mindfulness in your day to day than purchasing and applying a product that is ethical? Milk Makeup launched in 2016, “tapping into the desire for more earth-friendly products by becoming 100% vegan.

Their hook is in their high-quality cosmetic products, having a clean and cruelty-free background. The brand is also known for achieving a great new development, by omitting all animal ingredients from its formulas and replaced these with safer and healthier alternatives natural or synthetic.

Ingredients such as honey, collagen and gelatin are replaced with alternatives such as avocado oil and mango butter, promising the same results—now guilt-free. Even if you have yet to go vegan from a nutrition or even a fashion standpoint, there’s never been a better time to take a vegan approach to your makeup and skincare,” states the company. “You’ll get the same, if not better, quality and efficacy without compromising your values.”

According to NPD, sales for vegan makeup has gone up by 38% in the last year alone as the rise in conscious consumers continues. As a result, a number of other companies have made their products a little more animal-friendly such as:

  • Kat Von D who announced in 2016, that her makeup line would become 100% vegan.  eliminating ingredients such as carmine, a dye made from beetle wings.
  • Hourglass Cosmetics have committed to going vegan by 2020, they launched a vegan “leather” cosmetics case, to celebrate the change, with all profits donated to the Nonhuman Rights Project animal rights organization.
  • MAC also recently replaced the animal hair they used to make its cosmetic brushes with 100% synthetic fibres.
  • Here is a list of all the cruelty-free brands to follow & purchase from this Ramadan.
