Members of the tree of life synagogue in Pittsburgh conducting a peaceful service were attacked with a shooting by a Pennsylvania man that left 11 dead on Saturday 27th October 2018 at 10 am. The man has been identified as Robert Bowers, 46, of suburban Baldwin. He surrendered to authorities and was known to make anti-Semitic statements and often targeted jews on social media according to the federal law enforcement official. Bowers faces 29 charges, after his attack that has been deemed “the deadliest on the Jewish community, in US history” the Anti-Defamation League said in a statement.
Police respond to the shooting Saturday at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
“These incidents usually occur in other cities,” Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich told reporters Saturday. “Today, the nightmare has hit home in the city of Pittsburgh.”
In the midst of all of this, Muslims online have banded together to create a Launchgood page to raise money to donate to the shooting victims’ families. So far the page has raised $112,415 with a goal of reaching 125,000 in total. The page documents the success of reaching 25,000 in just 6 hours as the page went viral. The page reads, “As it begins receiving international media attention. We have now hit our 2nd goal of $50,000, before the 24-hour mark! The goal is now $75,000.” Since then the number keeps rising, as many expressed their devastation and support to the victim’s families on social media. CelebrateMercy and MPower Change organise the campaign, as the Muslim-American community, “extends its hands to help the shooting victims, whether it is the injured victims or the Jewish families who have lost loved ones.”
“We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action. Our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “Show mercy to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens will show mercy to you.” The Quran also teaches us to “Repel evil by that which is better”(41:34). “
The page also details the importance of uniting with different faiths referencing a pact made between the jews and Muslims during the time of the prophet Muhammed (saw).
“While these senseless acts have filled us with sorrow, we reflect on the message of unity, tolerance, and mutual protection found in the Constitution of Medina: a historic social contract between the Medinan Jews and the first Muslim community. We are also inspired by the example of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who stood up to pay respects for a passing Jewish funeral procession. When questioned on why he stood for a Jewish funeral, he responded, “Is it not a human soul?” [Source: Bukhari].”
The proceeds will go toward aiding, “immediate, short-term needs of the injured victims and grieving families – including funeral expenses and medical bills, we do hope to lessen their burden in some way. The fundraising target will be raised if we quickly hit the initial goal of $25,000 (Update: the goal is now $50,000 after reaching the initial target in only 6 hours).”
The page welcomes other communities from different faiths to join forces and help with aid, “CelebrateMercy will immediately begin transferring funds raised to our local partner on the ground: The Islamic Center of Pittsburgh (ICP). ICP will be working directly with the Tree of Life synagogue to distribute funds to affected families. ”
The page also sends a message of unity and zero tolerance for violence and hate crimes such as these,”through this campaign, we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate and violence in America. We pray that this restores a sense of security and peace to the Jewish-American community who has undoubtedly been shaken by this event.”

Was at a Muslim civic advocacy groups’s event tonite. There were abt a dozen speakers. Every single 1 started w a condemnation of the synagogue attack in Pittsburgh that was lengthier & more emotional than President @realDonaldTrump’s (1/3)

Dear Saudi Arabia,
1) It was a synagogue not a church
2) It was a bit more than an incident. I think the word you are looking for is “attack”
3) It’s Pittsburgh pic.twitter.com/yLTSx8bZOn— Ayman (@AymanM) October 29, 2018

"Open you Eyes! It's the filthy EVIL jews Bringing the Filthy EVIL Muslims into the Country!!" – never forget Robert Bowers, the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter, wrote this. Translation? George Soros is funding a caravan of Middle Easterners who will invade the border. Thanks Trump.

Those who spread the BS that 'evil, rich Jew' George Soros supported an 'invasion of savage Muslims' are co-responsible for the massacre in Pittsburgh. Narratives of hatred are clear: Jews are enemies from within, Muslim from outside. They make a man murdering ppl in a synagogue.
