Women around the wolrd have been sexually harassed in different ways in their lives and have been sharing experiences as well as the affects on social media with the hash tag #metoo.
It was sparked by the recent allegations that have come out against a Hollywood producer – Harvey Weinstein who has since been sacked from his working position and faced other repercussions. Actresses such as Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow have made accusations of indecent behavior.
The hash tag gained momentum when Alyssa Milano encouraged everyone to tweet about it.
If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet. pic.twitter.com/k2oeCiUf9n

What‘s so heartbreaking is that many women are not having to choose whether to tell their story, but which story to tell. #metoo

The whole #metoo should open our eyes, this is real. It happens to all of us, no matter what gender or skin color we are.

Today Twitter and Facebook were places of solace and comfort, where the support far outnumbered the trolls. You did that. Thank you. #MeToo

#metoo doesn’t just mean rape. It’s the 500+ unwanted encounters I’ve had in which I can’t pinpoint exactly because there’s too many.

I am shocked by so many #metoo posts. There are no excuses for harassment. pic.twitter.com/KdXfLzVl36

Sad to see extent of sexual abuse or harassment in our world judging from the metoo hashtag. For me it was harassment and I was 16 #MeToo

Important to remember the Weinstein scandal isn’t Hollywood specific. Westminster has plenty of its own Harvey Weinsteins. #MeToo

#Metoo I was attacked in Paris by a group of about 5 men. I was being dragged into a lane when I managed to punch one of them and run away

We've been taught from early childhood that our bodies aren't our own. One of the main reasons a girl stays silent #metoo

Let’s face it, its happened to each one of us and we all have moved on either ignoring it or sometimes in utter shock. #MeToo

I was six when the abuse started, nine when it ended. At 29, I'm still afraid of any sort of physical contact. #MeToo

To those with a #MeToo Story:
I see you.
I acknowledge you.
I believe you.We should be better.
We can do better.
We will do better.— Steve Torres (@HeySteeb) October 17, 2017
To all women sharing #MeToo you are heard, you are seen, you are believed. We will rebuild this world. We have to. This is not ok.

Men,
Don't say you have a mother, a sister, a daughter…
Say you have a father, a brother, a son who can do better.
We all can.#MeToo

I love the #MeToo movement, but I wish it encouraged men to speak out. Men often do not report sexual harassment/assault as a fear of being

All the #metoo stuff is fab if it helps you but pls recognise it's distressing for some ppl w severe trauma to even read never mind disclose

Reminder that if a woman didn't post #MeToo, it doesn't mean she wasn't sexually assaulted or harassed. Survivors don't owe you their story.
