Congratulations are in order for Zamzam Ibrahim, who has just been elected as the new National Union of Students at the National Conference 2019. She’s the second Muslim woman to hold the position and will take up the role beginning June 1st 2019 as she cycles out her title of Vice President of the Union. This year the NUS team is all female and it’s one for the history books.
In her acceptance speech, Ibrahim pledged to ‘revitalise’ the student movement, something she has said is a transformative period of time for millions experiencing education here in the UK.
She also went on to thank her “Sweet mother” (Hooyo Macaan) for her success.
Hooyo Macaan really did that, she raised me to one day become the National President ❤️ https://t.co/eUXpIzMkcb
