A social media post went viral recently after a group of Somali teens in a Minessotta Mcdonald’s were threatened with a gun by a white male. Investigators are in the process of reviewing the incident which occurred in Eden Prairie McDonald’s which was captured in a short video.

The teenagers were a mix of young men and women, some in hijabs. One teen in the video approached the man, leading him to shove the teen, and run for the door, before turning around and pulling out a gun on the teens. The teens in the video, jump back in shock crying out, “he has a gun.”
Reports that have circulated suggest, the manager posted a statement claiming “Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and employees,” the statement said. The online community expressed their outrage for the incident, calling law enforcement to do more.
According to an eyewitness, 16-year-old Farida Osman who was one of the teens threatened, she reported to Buzzfeed that another employee of the fast food conglomerate told the group the man, “pulled out the gun for a reason” causing the teens to have suspicion to believe the attack was racially motivated. Osman told news website Muslim girl that a friend was attempting to pay for her order with Apple Pay when the white man said, “You’re probably using EBT” – a form of welfare. She immediately turned to him and said, “Just because I’m black, doesn’t mean I use EBT,” Osman recounted. The argument escalated as both parties went back and forth, not long before her friends came to her aid. Osman believes the man profiled her and her friends in the brief exchange between them. To which she went on to explain how often incidents of this nature have occurred.
The perpetrator was reported to be a 55-year-old resident of Eden Prairie, who has recently been charged with probable cause on secondary assault. The Eden Prairie Police Department, according to Huffpost, said on Tuesday that it was investigating the “disorderly conduct” as a result of a 911 call being made from Mcdonalds.
The teen made the following statement:
“I think it’s because we were black and Muslim, I’ve had people being racist towards me before, but I’ve never had a gun pulled on me until now.” “Usually people brush it aside,” she said. “They look at our skin color and the hijab and say, ‘What does that matter? I’m so thankful that one man was there,” Farida added, referring to the customer who intervened as the store manager tried to force them out. “I feel like if he wasn’t there, we would have had to leave; they would’ve called the cops on us. We’re children because white adults so frequently need to be reminded of this when facing black and brown kids. If the good guy who helped us wasn’t there to help us, we would’ve been kicked out and we could’ve been shot. At the end of the day, it’s a group of black people against the managers,” Farida continued. “That’s why I took the video, so if something happened, we could be taken seriously.”
McDonald’s has not given a public statement on the incident.
UPDATE: Police have arrested a 55-year-old Eden Prairie resident on probable cause for second-degree assault.
Let’s hope justice is served & this man is held accountable for threatening children with a weapon.

This McDonalds store manager threw these Somali teens out of the store after a man pulled a gun out on them.
Why would she put them in harms way? https://t.co/tLaX0Dhl0d

A man pulls a gun out on Somali Muslim teens at a Minnesota McDonalds.
What the store manager does next is inexcusable.
She kicks the teens out of the McDonalds, putting their lives at immediate risk.
This is NOT how you train your mangers, right @McDonalds ? pic.twitter.com/1gGUhoaBgV

The McD owner posted a statement claiming “Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our customers and employees,” the statement said. He omitted a qualifier: “our WHITE customers.” #EatingWhileBlack https://t.co/xqoQdyRdXC

@McDonalds is this what you stand for? We were just trying to order when this man said racist remarks, claimed to be touched (when really he pushed a kid as seen on video) pulled a gun out on kids and you still kick us out knowing we’re in danger? 1/2 pic.twitter.com/3vKXsxhuwH

What started out as an ordinary trip to a Minnesota McDonalds ended up with a racist pulling a gun on a group of Somali-American teens and a manager yelling for the the group to get out despite their lives being at risk. https://t.co/OYN8YEtu2V

The first thing I want to mention is that this was caused by a racist remark. Farida Osman (who was interviewed by Muslim Girl) stated in said interview that whilst she was paying for her order, "Jihan (a friend of her's) heard the man say, 'You're probably using EBT."
