Anniesa Hasibuan at NYFW

by in Fashion on 13th September, 2016

Across the globe, more and more Muslims are featuring in mainstream Fashion events from Dian Pelangi at London Fashion Week, to Annieesa Sahasibuan at New York Fashion Week, we are seeing representation on the catwalk. We aren’t merely representing, we are slayin’ whilst doing it.

History was made, hijabis took over the catwalk, it was refreshing to see models from various cultures representing, a reflection of the ummah pretty much. It’s time for brands to wake up and take notice, we haven’t arrived as such, we were always here.

Annie Sahasibuan was the wife who supported her husband’s business, she would often accompany him to meetings, through dressing well and always appearing polished, people began to notice her style and pieces. Friends and family began asking for them and significantly whilst in London at an event an organizer approached her and asked her to showcase her designs, a year later she has a collection on the catwalks of NYFW.

The collection could have been showcased without the models wearing hijab, the decision to showcase the opulent collection pieces with hijabi models has empowered women across the world and marked the first of its kind in history. There has never been a hijabi on the catwalks of NYFW till now.

Famously known for its unique styles reflecting the rich cultural diversity, this Capital of Indonesia inspires Anniesa to once again present another remarkable face of Indonesian stunning ethnic mosaics. For the patterns, Anniesa uses printing techniques for belt and batik to add the Indonesian touch and her bold signature characters. As for the colors, earthy tone combined with gold, green and peach, will dominate these intricate designs. Anniesa Hasibuan is again collaborating with WARDAH make up art, which is the original cosmetic from Indonesia. Sharing the same vivid vision and mision, both Anniesa Hasibuan and Wardah are proud to show the beauty of Indonesia to the world. “

Favourite thing about the #AnniesaHasibuan show at #NYFW is the clothes look lush and the models are not all white pic.twitter.com/TLfkDmh9k4
