New show Young, British and Muslim aired last Wednesday, on ITV, detailing the experiences of what it means to be a young Muslim in Britain, hosted by Rageh Omar. He introduced Mohammed Yahya, rapper and founder of first interfaith hip-hop UK collective. Mariah Idrissi, the first hijab-wearing model for a high street brand. And Tez Ilyas a Blackburn born comedian currently touring the country with his show Teztify.
“An estimated 4 million British Muslims in the UK, 6% of the population, double what it was 20 years ago, Islam the second largest religion nationally, being here for centuries. The British Muslim population is a very young one. Almost 50% under the age of 25.” Rageh Omar
